Development of a high-resolution VLS fluorescence spectrometer for experiments at storage rings for highly charged ions
Universität Kassel
The VLS-Fluorescence-Spectrometer (30 nm-300 nm) is a multipurpose set-up at FAIR that will contribute to four experimental installations. The target fluorescence after charge transfer measured with the spectrometer will be used to determine the specific state after charge capture via fluorescence spectroscopy such that charge transfer in an astrophysical context can be investigated. In collaboration with D. Winters (AG Stöhlker), relativistic doppler shifts on the fluorescence from the Kr32+ 1s22s2p → 1s22s2 transition fluorescence will be measured. Furthermore, radiative recombination in the Giessen transversal electron target will be observed with the spectrometer to derive relaxation pathways and compare with theoretical cross sections. In addition, the VLS-Fluorescence-Spectrometer can be used as a tool for ion-beam diagnostics.
