Czech Republic in FAIR
In March 2019, the Nuclear Physics Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences and FAIR GmbH concluded an agreement to recognize the Czech Republic as a FAIR „Aspirant Partner“.
This type of participation offers countries interested in being part of FAIR a progressive parth to a full membership.
Czech scientists are involved, for example, in the large detector HADES and in nuclear astrophysics as well in as developments and research for the CBM and PANDA experiments. They are active in all four FAIR research pillars, and intend to also contribute to the construction of components for the FAIR accelerators.
In detail, Czech scientists substantially contribute to several key components to experiments:
- HADES: Electromagnetic Calorimeter (ECAL), Time of Flight Wall (TOF), Forward Wall Hodoscope (FW)
- CBM: Projectile Spectator Detector (PSD)
- NUSTAR: Exotic Particle Emission and Radioactivity by Tracking for the Super-FRS Experiment (EXPERT)
- PANDA: Electromagnetic Calorimeter (ECAL)
