NUSTAR Seminar

06.06.2012

Abstract:

Action of an externally applied electromagnetic field on a nucleus can
be enhanced drastically via the resonance mechanism of bound internal
conversion. Theoretically predicted in 1979, the novel mechanism was
experimentally discovered in heavy ions in 2000. Ways of optical pumping
the nuclear isomers and release of their energy are discussed. Special
part is devoted to the role of the exclusion Pauli principle and its
experimental research.
