FAIR was represented with a booth at this year’s „Wissenswerte“ congress which was visited by 330 science journalists and science communicators. The visitors could test their skills to produce a „new element“ (consisting of a steel and a magnetic ball) by using the mechanical model of a linear accelerator. Further, the exhibited original part of a linear accelerator generated major interest.

„Wissenswerte“ is now into its 11th year and was organized by the science journalist organization „Wissenschaftspressekonferenz“ together with the Technical University of Dortmund. Main supporters were the four biggest German science organizations Helmholtz Association, Leibniz Association, Max Planck Society and Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. The congress was accompanied by a trade exhibition with about 50 science institutes, research departments of innovative companies, foundations, publishing houses and institutions which promote science.
