The scientists at the Helmholtz International Center for FAIR (HIC for FAIR), to date scattered across various locations in the Rhine-Main region, are now to have their own building at the Goethe University Frankfurt. The prime minister of the state of Hesse, Volker Bouffier, today opened the new Giersch Science Center, financed and built by the Giersch Foundation. Together with the building of the Frankfurt Institute for Advanced Studies (FIAS) the center forms an ensemble with a total of 200 offices and seminar rooms. The postgraduate students of the Giersch Graduate School will also be located here. HIC for FAIR is researching new concepts and methods for the construction, operation and scientific use of FAIR in Darmstadt.
