Environmental compensation

Conservation of the natural monument Stahlberge

Photo: Markus Bernards for FAIR

With a mowing machine and careful hand cutting the free areas of Stahlberge were today mowed on behalf of FAIR. The mowing contributes to the conservation of the natural monument “Stahlberge” in Arheilgen. This mowing takes place at regular intervals so that pine trees and bushes do not displace the rare plants to be found here such as the wormwood broomrape. At the same time the field sagewort plants were conserved; these are perennial plants and serve as host plants for wormwood broomrape. The conservation of “Stahlberge” is part of the “meadow” environmental compensation program for the construction of FAIR.
