FAIR and GSI are "Heiner"

"Heinerfest" in Darmstadt: Chance to accelerate particles

GSI and FAIR will be represented at the 64th Heinerfest.

On Sunday, 6 July 2014, GSI and FAIR are participating at the Heinerfest in Darmstadt. Between 2 pm and 6 pm at the stand in the “darmstadtium” Congress Center interested visitors can gather information about the scientific research at GSI, as well as about the plans for and construction progress on the new accelerator facility FAIR, which is to be connected to the existing GSI accelerator.

The stand also offers hands-on experiments for young and old: Using an interactive model, visitors can discover how scientists create a new chemical element with a particle accelerator. Employees who are experts in their own field, including the “self-confessed Heiner” Professor Sigurd Hofmann, one of the co-discovers of the element 110 – darmstadtium – at GSI, will be on hand to answer questions about GSI and FAIR.
